Couch Riding

So very suffering from writers block on my senior paper. That's not good.

I have a slight bruise on my right hip from laying on the couch. Yes.

I was counting how many times I coughed in an hour, but I lost track. Then I took cough medicine.

Being sick has lost the "new car feel".  It just isn't really fun anymore.

My fever worked its way into a super not fun sore throat.  I'm pretty experienced with throat pain (I had my tonsils out and couldn't eat or drink really for almost two weeks), but this just isn't fun.

On top of it all, its going to be 50 degrees today.

I've been watching large quantities of television the last three days.

Monday

Friday Saturday Sunday: Lots of riding at Michaux with Zach Adams, Jeff Bahnson, Brett Weiser and Tom Mcdaniel.    = Really fun.

Car ride home in the snow going 30 on the Turnpike= Not so fun.

Getting hit with a  huge fever today = Really not so much fun.

Getting kicked off the tv couch by your brother and his girlfriend = unexplainable brotherial cruelty.  I'm still in a fever induced rage.

ew yuck ew

I'm really not a big fan of snow.  I don't like the cold and not being able to ride in the woods when too much of it stays around. We went exactly a week of nice non-whiteness until this morning when I peered outside and saw it.  blah.

Butler High School is getting reviewed for this accreditation called AFG.  Apparently, a bunch of official AFG personal walk around and pull students aside and question them to see if they know what AFG stands for (we were told the whole thing is very 'informal'... but you BETTER learn what AFG stands for or else...), and if they know what Butler's school goals are.  AFG stands for Accreditation For Growth (I go to the bathroom quite often... and all the bathroom passes have it written on them. Good thing).  Woo! Now we're allowed to grow.  I was worried. The teachers even got t-shirts to wear while we're being interrogated that say AFG super big on the front and on the back they have two little nice pictures of our school-wide goals, which are literacy and personal physical fitness.  So there is an open book and then to the right there is a guy running.  But really, it just looks like he's running from the book.  Hahahaha. Someone messed up (but now I know what the school-wide goals are!).  It all seems to fit in place though because the whole thing seems weird and semi suck-up-ish like.

Team Funny Bunny

Elite road racing team.

Zach, Alex, and I spend every Tuesday and Thursday in the spinning room at SRU riding bikes, having spinning room crits around water bottles, throwing those big exercise balls at each other, making Alex fall off the rollers, and watching the intramural soccer games in lycra...

...And forming Team Funny Bunny

We decided we wanted to race road sometimes, and we wanted to be real roadies.  So we made a team.

We even made a Facebook fan page.  Since we had like 4 fans (three of which were us) I started going through my friends list and inviting everyone to be a fan.  Most of them will probably look at it and think we're super weird or something.  But really, thats ok.  As long as they push the little button that says 'Become a Fan'.  It made me realize though how many of my Facebook 'friends' I really haven't talked to in...uhh...really never.  It felt weird inviting them. So I didn't.  I did however invite a few ex-girlfriends.

Team FB "cross-trained" on our mountain bikes all weekend, putting in around 7-8 hours at Moraine.  Plenty of bonking to go around.  My new bike position is making me not be so grandma-slow on the rocks and the downhills. That's a nice feeling.

19 Hours

Of riding this week!

Sweet.

The weather was awesome this week.  I wish it was like this all the time.  Zach and Kopko came down and met me after school and we got some riding in.  Someone else was slated to come but opted to spend the nicest day of the year with a ladyfriend.  Pretty lame really.

It's bedtime.  First race is almost a month away!

Driving?

I drove to school yesterday. See that tower past the other buildings? That's where I had to walk to get to the metal detectors to be allowed in. It took me SIX minutes to walk that far. Enough of that.

My (most favorite principal ever) is letting me come in a hour and fifteen minutes late every Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday so I can ride my bike more. That's just cool. Senior year!

Speaking of Senior year (and what's left of it) I sent my deposit to the University of Colorado in Boulder. Now I have to pick out where I want to live and how many times a week I would like to eat. And the most important issue... where I'm going to store all the bicycles. It's slowly sinking in that they ALL aren't going to go (Unless someone has a hook up in Boulder where I can store some bikes. I just need to switch them out when the seasons change. I'll wash windows or something).
Let me know.

March 22 there is a mountain bike race Maryland that's going to count for USAC mtn upgrades. Which really is cool and all, since I've been refused a Cat 1 license multiple times in the last month. If you've seen me at all in this time I'm sure I've vented a little about it. So sport-rider-is-me until I can get an upgrade by racing a sanctioned race. I raced 5 sport races in my career before I moved up to expert. The USAC upgrader I had basically told me there is no doubt I should be bumped up, but a new rule change (effective THIS year) is that he can't look at anything that isn't USA cycling sanctioned. Not his fault, I felt bad for him. Kind of dumb on USAC though. Since everyone knows that sandbagging is sweet.

45 Degrees!

I rode my bike for almost seven hours yesterday.

Although I also sat around a bunch too.  I stole this from Zach's blog because I'm camera-less.

The downhills on this snowmobile path were fun. There were these moguls from the snowmobs that pretty much had their way with me.

Around hour 4 Zach headed back to SRU and I toward Butler. I was really tired so I rode slow.  I didn't want to go inside.

Next weekend it's supposed to be in the 40s both days.  Aweeesome.
